Tab notifier for Chrome

If your browser is chrome add this extension!
Tab notifier shows a desktop notification when the title of a tab changes. This kind of notifications are triggered by many web mails, web chats or social networks when you receive a message. You can open the tab clicking on the notification, or you can suppress any notification coming from the same domain of a page by right-clicking on the page and checking Tab notifier>Ignore this domain for the current session.

Also available for Firefox

    1. AngeloNE is my surname, but that’s fine 🙂
You can use the add-on safely, the weird message is due to the matter that Firefox doesn’t find the localized name. I think this is a small defect of Firefox, because the name of an add-ons rarely changes per language, so it should use the default value. Anyway I’ll fix it, thanks.

  1. Salve,
scriverò con il mio pessimo inglese visto che non sono sicuro se siamo della stessa nazionalità o meno.

Can you make this addon for Opera too? With userjs system i think you can make this vary easily… I know that Opera is rarely used, but you’ll could make my happiness, i was looking for an extension like this for a long time!
Anyway cheers for your work 🙂

    1. Salve. Siamo della stessa nazionalità, ma per la gioia dei miliardi di visitatori giornalieri di questo blog scrivo in inglese 🙂

Opera doesn’t support desktop notifications the way Chrome does. I don’t know whether I can do it with an hack as I did with the Mozilla browsers or if I can use external notification systems like Snarl, libnotify and Growl. Surely you can do something when the title of a tab changes, but I don’t know when/if I’ll have time to look into it. Maybe there is some willing geek that uses Opera daily… He would make my dad happy 🙂
By the way, I do like Opera

      1. Thanks for the answer, i hope Opera add support for html5 desktop notification soon, so maybe i’ll be easy for you make a conversion.
        Sinceri saluti.

        L.

  2. Cannot add extension: “This extension is not listed in the Chrome Web Store and may have been added without your knowledge.”

Enable button in chrome://extensions is greyed out. Can this be fixed? Is there anyway that this can be uploaded to the Chrome Web Store?

  3. Hi I can’t install the Chrome version as it says the package is invalid.

Also is there ANY chance that the tab notifier (either the chrome or Firefox version) can have the option to have an audible alert/ping when the notification is created? That would save me SO much! 🙂
    Richard
